Job Description

  • Assisted Troubleshooting & Repair: Work alongside senior technicians to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and airflow malfunctions in diverse commercial HVAC systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Independently or collaboratively execute comprehensive preventative maintenance tasks (e.g., changing filters, checking belts, cleaning coils, and verifying basic system operations) to optimize system efficiency.
  • Client Liaison Support: Act as a professional face of Kelair on-site. Maintain a clean, organized work area, communicate politely with clients, and support back-office coordination.
  • Introduction to Controls: Learn to interface with, test, and understand digital controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS), including basic BACnet protocols.
  • Digital Service Logging: Accurately document all work orders, diagnostic findings, parts used, and equipment histories electronically in real-time using our field management software.

Job Requirements

  • Work Experience: 1–3 years of commercial or residential HVAC experience (or completion of a certified trade school program with relevant field placement).
  • Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of standard HVAC systems (split systems, RTUs, package units). Willingness to learn heavy commercial systems, including VRF systems, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Software: Familiarity with BuildOps or similar modern field management software is a strong plus.
  • Core Competencies: Eagerness to learn, strong analytical problem-solving skills, sharp attention to mechanical detail, and clear verbal communication skills when speaking with clients, senior techs, and dispatchers.

Safety & Compliance

  • EPA Certification: Valid EPA Universal Certification required for proper refrigerant handling.
  • OSHA Certification: Valid OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.

  • Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving history to operate a company fleet vehicle.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Commitment to strict compliance with NYC DOB mandates, EPA guidelines, and local mechanical and safety codes.

  • Salary Range: $20.00 - $28.00/hr, based on experience.
  • Growth: Unparalleled mentorship from elite field techs, factory training opportunities, continuous career development, and long-term stability.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with both Roth & Traditional options, featuring a competitive company match.
